Maswera sei?/How are you?
Today on the 11 on 11 segment we have a Communications Associate, Writer, and Accountant working with different entities. He loves to read a good book or watch a movie, in his spare time. This is if he is not listening to NF. His name is Rogers M. Wanambwa and he owns the wonderful blog known as Wanam World.
Here’s Rogers’ take on the 11 on 11.
1. Well..Who are you?
My name is Wanambwa Masaba Rogers. I am a Ugandan Writer, Communications Associate and Accountant. I love reading, writing and in my free time, I indulge in movies too.
2. What drove you to start a blog?
As I have hinted, I love writing and I used to post my articles on my social media platforms and on websites like the Kampala International University website (which I still write for) and others. A friend called Ivan Rackara introduced me to the world of blogging after noticing my consistent posts.
Guess the rest is history.
3. What else draws your heart and drives your interest?
There is a lot to write about honestly. This, coupled with the fact that few Africans are writing drives my interest in this field.
We have to tell African stories as Africans. Not them being told by outsiders looking in and getting snippets of the whole picture.
4. Your most cherished achievement and your greatest adversity?
Queerly, I feel like I haven’t achieved a lot that needs to be told! Mhmm, yet I will say that my being able to get noticed by different people and entities for my work is my greatest achievement.
After all, the greatest legacy we can leave behind is our work.
5. A book, a movie and an album
Book: The Holy Bible
Movie: The Matrix
Album: The Search by NF.
6. Do you have a mantra, quote or idea that you live by?
“If you are going to try, go all the way. Otherwise, don’t even start.” – Charles Bukowski
7. Describe how it feels and how it looks when you’re in your element
I once wrote ten articles in a single day. But normally, it’s three to four. Each article takes me an hour.
I think I am most peaceful while writing.
8. If you could travel to three locations of your choice then finally sit down and have a heart to heart with one person, where and who?
I have a plan to visit all African countries. I would come back and tell my mom about it.
9. If you were to describe your life, passions, and ideals in aesthetics what would it be?
Patience, perseverance and determination. Africa telling its own stories and a time where we can be selfless enough to let our continent be what it has the potential to be.
10. What time period would you visit in history?
Just ten years back. To tell myself, “things eventually turn out okay.” That’s all.
11. What is the closest thing to real magic?
I know people who pray and things happen. I too, have prayed for things and seen them happen. Hebrews 11:1 says that “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” To me, faith is it.
[One more thing, ask me anything.]
Would be kind to answer these questions for me too?
[Hmmm interesting proposal and I shall yield to it, stay tuned for my 11 on 11!]
